TMT reinforcement bars

High-strength TMT (thermo-mechanically treated) bars for slabs, columns, beams and footings — the core of what we supply. We keep the full range in stock, in the grades and brands your design demands.

  • Sizes — 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 25, 32 and 40 mm
  • Grades — Fe500, Fe500D and Fe550D, to IS 1786. Our branded range is ISI-marked; ask us and we'll confirm the marking for whichever brand you're quoted.
  • Brands we supply — SEL Tiger, Kamdhenu, Lodha, Sangam and Sarthak. Need JSW or another brand? We can usually source it.
  • Applications — RCC slabs, columns, beams and footings; residential to commercial
  • Quality-checked — correct grade and size, verified before dispatch
  • Delivered to site — same day within Nagpur; across the wider Vidarbha region on a timeline we'll confirm when we quote
  • Bought direct from the mills — Raipur, Raigarh and Chhattisgarh, then held in our own yard

Choosing a grade

Fe 500 vs Fe 500D vs Fe 550D

The "D" stands for ductility — a D-grade bar bends further before it fails, which is what matters in a seismic zone. The higher number is more strength. Here is what IS 1786 requires of each.

Figures are the minimums laid down in IS 1786. Actual values on any given batch appear on its mill test certificate, which we supply on request. If you are unsure which grade your drawing specifies, send it over and we'll confirm before you order.

Know your material

What makes a TMT bar different

TMT stands for thermo-mechanically treated. The bar is quenched from rolling heat so the outer skin hardens, then allowed to self-temper so the core stays soft. That combination is the whole point.

  • Strength where it is needed — the hardened outer layer carries the load, so a thinner bar does the work of a heavier plain one.
  • Ductility in the core — the soft centre lets the bar bend and absorb movement rather than snapping. This is what matters in an earthquake.
  • Bends without cracking — important on site, where bars are bent to shape rather than used straight.
  • Better bond with concrete — the rib pattern rolled into the surface is what grips the concrete around it.
